Everything about this quilt is simply a delight - from the presentation down to the finest detailed stitching.
Bamboo makes for the most unique filling when converted to fibre - soft as can be, highly absorbent and offering genuine properties of temperature regulation.
The weight is a superlight 200gsm yet the quilt drapes wonderfully. This is due to both the extreme softness of the materials used coupled with unique stitching on the quilt which is literally shaped to fall around you.
The outer casing is woven in-house (this particular Sateen fabric is much sought after and has a high thread count of 300 threads per square inch) - it has a glorious touch. To further complement the softness and for added well-being and skincare, an Aloe Vera treatment is added to the fabric.
A luxury quilt made from a cloud of fluffy bamboo fibre encased in soft, silky-smooth bamboo fabric.
Bamboo is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, odour-resistant, chemical free, dust mite and mould-resistant, making it an excellent choice for allergy sufferers.
Bamboo has natural and inherent anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties, due to a naturally occurring agent known as "bamboo kun". This prevents bacteria from cultivating on the fibre. It has been tested by inoculating the bamboo fibre with bacteria. After 24 hours it was found to have 70% less bacteria present. Cotton tested in a similar manner had 30% more! Bamboo fabric is now being used for surgical dressings.
Bacteria are the cause of some odours. Bamboo destroys bacteria, therefore giving it natural deodorant properties. This makes it ideal for socks and underwear. The anti-bacterial properties have been validated by the Japanese Textile Inspection Association. Even after 50 washes, bamboo fabric still possesses excellent anti-bacterial properties. The natural antibacterial property differs from chemical anti-microbial additives in that, the latter often causes skin allergies when applied to fabrics.
Ideal for allergy sufferers
Bamboo is resistant to dust mite and has natural mould inhibiting properties, therefore it is very suitable for people with asthma and other allergies.
Soft and absorbent
The bamboo fibre is very fine, much finer than the human hair, and is therefore extremely soft. The fibre is produced strictly in accordance with ISO-9000 and ISO-14000 specifications.
Bamboo is 3 times more absorbent than cotton. It wicks away moisture to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter.
OekoTex (the world authority in Switzerland for testing textiles) have accredited this quilt as being completely free of harmful substances. It is produced by the worlds only patented manufacturer of bamboo fibre, and has been certified and authenticated by the fibre manufacturer as being genuine 100% pure bamboo.
Care is simple and easy! Just pop the quilt in the open air for half and hour every couple of months, shake and place back on the bed. If needed the quilt can be spot cleaned but too ensure the "waterproofing" is intact. We don't recommend dry cleaning or machine washing unless it is necessary. Your quilt will not mark as quickly as conventional quilts and will stay clean and white for a longer period of time with the Aloe Vera coating. To see our range of Alpaca/Bamboo Doona's click here
